What is CVE-2026-33684?

A critical vulnerability in the WWBN AVideo open source video platform allows attackers to escalate privileges during account registration via unguarded permission parameters in the signUp API. Attackers can exploit this flaw by solving a CAPTCHA to self-grant elevated permissions, manipulating user-supplied input to mark their accounts as email-verified and obtaining upload, streaming, and meeting-creation rights. This circumvents established administrative controls intended to restrict these capabilities to new users. The issue has been addressed and resolved in version 29.0.
