Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability in OpenEMR Electronic Health Records Application
CVE-2026-33932
What is CVE-2026-33932?
OpenEMR, a widely used open-source electronic health records and medical practice management solution, features a stored cross-site scripting vulnerability in its CCDA document preview functionality. This vulnerability exists in versions prior to 8.0.0.3 and allows an attacker to execute arbitrary JavaScript within the browser session of a clinician. Specifically, when a user previews a CCDA document, the XSL stylesheet fails to effectively sanitize certain attributes for the linkHtml element, enabling the use of href="javascript:..." and other event handler attributes. The vulnerability necessitates that organizations using OpenEMR upgrade to version 8.0.0.3 or later to mitigate potential security risks.
