Vulnerability in HAPI FHIR Affects Healthcare Interoperability in Java
CVE-2026-34359
What is CVE-2026-34359?
HAPI FHIR is an implementation of the HL7 FHIR standard designed for healthcare interoperability. Prior to version 6.9.4, a vulnerability existed in the ManagedWebAccessUtils.getServer() method, where the use of String.startsWith() for URL matching allowed attacker-controlled domains to exploit authentication processes. Specifically, a lack of proper URL authentication checks meant that an attacker could craft a malicious domain with a prefix that matched the legitimate server URL. This flaw could lead to the unauthorized disclosure of sensitive credentials such as Bearer tokens, Basic auth credentials, or API keys when the HTTP client is redirected to the malicious domain. This vulnerability has since been addressed in version 6.9.4.
