Memory Handling Vulnerability in GNU C Library Affects NSS Client
CVE-2026-3904
6.2MEDIUM
What is CVE-2026-3904?
The NSS client in GNU C Library versions 2.35 and 2.36 may experience a crash under high-load circumstances due to concurrent modifications of inputs used by the optimized memcmp function. When accessed, this undefined behavior can lead to spurious cache misses and a subsequent crash of both the nscd client and the applications relying on it. Distributions that utilize a cherry-picked version of the memcpy SSE2 optimization must also implement the necessary fixes to prevent this potential instability.
