What is CVE-2026-39932?

OpenEMR versions prior to 8.2.0 are susceptible to a remote code execution vulnerability involving the document category tree component. Authenticated administrators can exploit this flaw by injecting malicious PHP payloads into the categories database table. Attackers may manipulate the id column type to VARCHAR and insert crafted input that will be executed through an insecure eval() function whenever CategoryTree is invoked on any page, including those accessible to low-privilege users. This serious flaw could compromise the web server’s security, allowing unauthorized command execution under the server user context, posing significant risks if exploited.

Affected Version(s)

openemr 0 <= 8.2.0

Exploit Proof of Concept (PoC)

PoC code is written by security researchers to demonstrate the vulnerability can be exploited. PoC code is also a key component for weaponization which could lead to ransomware.
