What is CVE-2026-40523?

A notable SQL injection issue exists in FrontAccounting prior to version 2.4.20, specifically within the Audit Trail report handler. This vulnerability can be exploited by authenticated users holding the SA_GLANALYTIC permission. By injecting malicious SQL queries through the PARAM_2 and PARAM_3 POST parameters, attackers are able to execute arbitrary SQL commands. Techniques such as time-based blind SQL injection leveraging SLEEP() functions can overwhelm the database, leading to denial of service scenarios by depleting available connections. Additionally, UNION-based injection strategies may facilitate unauthorized access to sensitive database information.
