What is CVE-2026-42030?

MapServer, a robust platform for creating web-based Geographic Information Systems (GIS), is susceptible to a reflected Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability. This flaw can be exploited by an unauthorized user who crafts a specific WMS URL that includes an unsanitized SRS parameter in WMS 1.3.0 requests. Once this malicious URL is accessed by any user, they can unknowingly execute arbitrary HTML or JavaScript within their browsers. This critical aspect of the vulnerability necessitates immediate attention, especially since it has been patched in version 8.6.2.
