What is CVE-2026-42188?

Geyser, which bridges Minecraft: Bedrock Edition and Minecraft: Java Edition, had a vulnerability that allowed attackers to exploit Bedrock player head texture data. By providing a malicious Base64-encoded URL for skin textures via the /give command, an attacker could compel the Minecraft server to perform unauthorized HTTP GET requests to external or local endpoints. This flaw was a result of insufficient URL validation and could be triggered directly by Bedrock clients. Geyser has released version 2.9.3 to resolve this issue.
