What is CVE-2026-44579?

Next.js, a popular React framework, is susceptible to a connection exhaustion issue when using the Partial Prerendering feature with Cache Components. Malicious actors can exploit this vulnerability by sending crafted POST requests, leading to a request-body handling deadlock. This situation keeps connections open for long periods, which can exhaust server resources such as file descriptors, ultimately denying service to legitimate users. Versions 15.5.16 and 16.2.5 have addressed this security concern.

Affected Version(s)

next.js >= 16.0.0, < 16.2.5 < 16.0.0, 16.2.5

next.js >= 15.0.0, < 15.5.16 < 15.0.0, 15.5.16
