What is CVE-2026-44888?

The vulnerability in Pi.Alert allows attackers to exploit the SaveConfigFile() endpoint, which improperly handles user-supplied numeric configuration values. This lack of input validation leads to the injection of arbitrary Python code into the configuration file pialert.conf. The configuration is executed regularly by the background process via Python's exec() function, enabling unauthenticated remote code execution on default installations without any credentials, posing a significant security risk to affected systems.
