What is CVE-2026-45686?

The OpenTelemetry eBPF Instrumentation is susceptible to an integer overflow due to its memcached text protocol parser, affecting versions from 0.7.0 up until just before 0.9.0. This vulnerability allows attackers to send crafted requests that contain excessively large byte values. The system's failure to correctly validate the length of these payloads leads to a negative value calculation, potentially causing runtime crashes and denial of service. The issue has been addressed in version 0.9.0, which provides essential remediation.

Affected Version(s)

opentelemetry-ebpf-instrumentation >= 0.7.0, < 0.9.0
