Buffer Handling Flaw in Linux Kernel Affects Mana Ethernet Driver
CVE-2026-46084
What is CVE-2026-46084?
A significant issue in the Linux kernel's Mana Ethernet driver arises from improper handling of RX steering during the destruction of receive queues (RX WQs). When an RX QP is terminated, the related steering configuration remains active in the firmware, inadvertently directing ongoing traffic to the obsolete RX objects. This mismatch can lead to critical warnings and failures in event handling, as user-mode processes may access outdated completion queue (CQ) IDs. To mitigate this risk, it is essential to implement a protocol that disables vPort RX steering before the RX WQ destruction, ensuring that the network interface operates reliably without unintended interference from stale configurations.
