What is CVE-2026-46669?

The OpenVM zkVM framework contains a flaw in the openvm-pairing guest library's try_honest_pairing_check function, which fails to ensure that the scaling factor 's' is contained within a proper subfield of Fp12 as defined in Theorem 3 of an academic paper. This oversight can lead to erroneous results during pairing checks, compromising the integrity of operations reliant on accurate pairing. This vulnerability was addressed and patched in version 1.6.0 of the framework.
