Retained Default Superuser Vulnerability in Bitnami Cassandra Container Images
CVE-2026-47846
9.8CRITICAL
What is CVE-2026-47846?
Bitnami Cassandra container images exhibit a retained default superuser vulnerability due to a flawed handling of user accounts during container initialization. When an administrator account is established using the CASSANDRA_USER environment variable, the initialization script is intended to create a new superuser account. However, it fails to remove the default cassandra account in specific scenarios, resulting in the unintended retention of the cassandra:cassandra superuser. This oversight can potentially grant unauthorized access, posing a significant security risk.
