What is CVE-2026-48849?

In Roundcube Webmail versions 1.6.x prior to 1.6.16 and 1.7.x prior to 1.7.1, a vulnerability exists due to an unsanitized subject field within the draft restore functionality. This flaw can potentially allow attackers to inject malicious HTML or CSS code into shared mailboxes, leading to stored cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks. This could enable unauthorized scripts to be executed by users accessing the compromised mailbox, thereby compromising user data and security.
