What is CVE-2026-49255?

Electerm, an open-source terminal client, suffers from a vulnerability where untrusted file paths are interpolated into critical operational commands in its codebase. This flaw can be exploited by malicious SSH or SFTP servers that send crafted filenames containing shell metacharacters, leading to arbitrary command execution on both POSIX and Windows systems. This could result in serious security issues including data exfiltration, unauthorized file modifications, and potential malware installation. The issue is resolved in version 3.11.11.
