What is CVE-2026-49426?

A flaw in the auditing of system calls executed via ptrace(PT_SC_REMOTE) in the FreeBSD kernel leads to inaccurate audit records. Instead of reflecting the true outcome of the executed operation, the audit trails indicate success even when errors occur. This vulnerability can be exploited by attackers with process debugging capabilities, potentially allowing them to create misleading audit logs that undermine Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) and overall system security.
