What is CVE-2026-50260?

A use-after-free vulnerability exists within the X.Org X server and Xwayland related to the FreeCounter() function. Exploiting this flaw can occur when a client establishes multiple SyncCounters and subsequently destroys them via a second client connection. This can result in a use-after-free condition, leading to potential server crashes or privilege escalation risks when the X server is running with elevated permissions.
