What is CVE-2026-5164?

A flaw exists in the virtio-win implementation related to the RhelDoUnMap() function, which fails to accurately validate the number of descriptors in unmap requests. A local user could exploit this flaw by submitting an excessive number of descriptors, potentially leading to a buffer overrun. This vulnerability can result in a system crash, thereby creating conditions for a Denial of Service (DoS). Users of virtio-win should ensure they are using updated versions to mitigate risks associated with this flaw.
