DNS Refresh Vulnerability in PowerDNS by PowerDNS
CVE-2026-52684
3.7LOW
What is CVE-2026-52684?
A vulnerability exists in PowerDNS where slow authentication responses can lead to issues with Time-To-Live (TTL) enforcement. Specifically, if the authentication responds slowly and the records near expiration are used for refreshing authoritative Name Server (NS) records, the lack of data prevents the capping of TTLs. This situation allows for almost expired records to be improperly utilized, compromising the integrity of DNS resolution for legitimate queries. Regular resolution processes do not encounter this issue as they utilize valid child records directly or discard expired ones.
