What is CVE-2026-52821?

The Kimai open-source time tracking application has a vulnerability that allows unauthorized users to create linked activities or projects without proper authorization checks. Prior to version 2.57.0, HTTP GET and POST requests to endpoints for creating activities and projects only required the generic capabilities, compromising the integrity of project and customer configurations. An attacker knowledgeable of valid identifiers can exploit this flaw to associate unauthorized child objects with legitimate parent projects or customers, potentially affecting time entries, rates, reporting, and billing processes. This issue has been addressed in version 2.57.0.
