GPU Recovery Issue in Linux Kernel
CVE-2026-53377
What is CVE-2026-53377?
The Linux kernel contains a vulnerability related to GPU recovery in the drm/msm subsystem. Initially, the recovery worker would not trigger recovery if no further tasks were pending, instead depending on the GPU to enter sleep mode and reactivate when work was submitted. This could lead to GPUs hanging indefinitely if a malfunction occurred during task submission, as there was no guaranteed mechanism for suspension and resumption, potentially resulting in repeated timeouts. The updated approach ensures the GPU recovery process initiates consistently, mitigating prolonged hang states and enhancing system stability.
