Vulnerability in GStreamer RealMedia Demuxer Affects gst-plugins-ugly by Red Hat
CVE-2026-53704

7.1HIGH

What is CVE-2026-53704?

An issue exists in the RealMedia demuxer of the GStreamer gst-plugins-ugly package. The vulnerability arises when processing RealMedia files that contain a specially crafted FILEINFO metadata section. The demuxer's method for parsing variable-name and variable-value pairs does not adequately validate offsets, resulting in potential infinite loops or crashes. Maliciously constructed RealMedia files might cause the application to hang or allow access to adjacent memory contents, which could lead to security risks.
