What is CVE-2026-53712?

A vulnerability exists within the SCRAM (Salted Challenge Response Authentication Mechanism) used in Ongres products that allows an attacker to perform a TLS man-in-the-middle attack. This flaw enables the attacker to downgrade a secure connection from SCRAM-SHA-256-PLUS with channel binding to a less secure standard SCRAM-SHA-256 without channel binding. When the TlsServerEndpoint processes an X.509 certificate using modern signature algorithms like Ed25519, it may lead to an empty byte array being returned, thus bypassing proper channel binding verification. This issue has been resolved in version 3.3.
