What is CVE-2026-53831?

OpenClaw versions prior to 2026.5.18 have a flaw in the system.run safe-bin allowlist validation process, which permits shell expansion that alters command interpretation on POSIX nodes. This vulnerability enables authenticated operators to exploit shell metacharacters within approved commands, potentially compromising access to sensitive configurations and reading unintended local files. Proper remediation is necessary to protect against unauthorized data exposure.
