What is CVE-2026-55453?

OpenPrinting CUPS, an open-source printing system for Linux, is impacted by a vulnerability in the quote_string() function of backend/ipp.c. This flaw allows an attacker to inject newline characters into a remote printer-controlled message. If exploited, an attacker can manipulate the configuration to store harmful PPD keywords, leading to remote code execution in the context of the print filter. This risk is effectively mitigated in version 2.4.20, which addresses the issue.
