Unbounded Memory Allocation in Cloudreve File Management System
CVE-2026-55497
6.5MEDIUM
What is CVE-2026-55497?
Cloudreve, a self-hosted file management and sharing system, exhibits a vulnerability in its built-in thumbnail and avatar image decoders prior to version 4.17.0. This issue allows authenticated users to upload small PNG, JPEG, or GIF files that exploit the lack of limits on decoded pixel dimensions, resulting in unbounded memory allocation. This can lead to a denial of service through fatal out-of-memory errors, terminating the Cloudreve process. The vulnerability has been addressed in version 4.17.0, emphasizing the need for users to update to the latest release to mitigate potential risks.
