OpenBao Identity-Based Secrets Management System Vulnerability
CVE-2026-55776
6.5MEDIUM
What is CVE-2026-55776?
OpenBao, an open source identity-based secrets management system, contains a vulnerability where an authenticated user with write access can cause a denial of service. This occurs when the user sets the 'derived' parameter to true while selecting rsa-, ecdsa-, or ed25519 types, leading to a double-unlock of a mutex in the Transit policy creation path. This error causes the server process to panic, resulting in no HTTP response and ultimately terminating the server. The issue was resolved in version 2.5.5.
