What is CVE-2026-56661?

GetSimple CMS CE, a widely used content management system, contains a vulnerability whereby its update handler fetches a user-supplied URL via the file_get_contents() function, relying solely on format validation (FILTER_VALIDATE_URL). This insufficient validation permits attackers to direct the server to make requests to arbitrary endpoints, including sensitive internal services. Furthermore, the responses are written to a web-accessible file without proper cleanup, enabling a complete read SSRF attack. This security flaw can lead to exposure of internal data or services. The issue has been resolved in version 1.5.
