What is CVE-2026-57248?

A significant vulnerability exists in Foxit PDF Software that allows an attacker to exploit improper handling of JavaScript-written annotation attributes in PDF files. When a user opens a malicious PDF, the application fails to properly check object types and arguments, which leads to corruption of the internal structure governing annotations. This flaw culminates in the crashing of the application upon attempts to release these annotations, rendering the software unusable and posing a serious risk to user data and operational continuity.
