What is CVE-2026-57486?

The pupnp SDK, designed for developing UPnP device and control point applications, contains a vulnerability in the ixmlNode_compare function prior to version 2.0.2. When processing non-namespaced attributes, certain fields such as nodeValue, namespaceURI, prefix, and localName may be NULL. This condition leads to a dereferencing of NULL pointers when two distinct attribute objects are compared using the find_condition_node function. As a result, a specially crafted XML input can cause an application crash, impacting availability. The issue has been addressed in version 2.0.2.
