What is CVE-2026-60005?

The ngx_http_slice_module in both NGINX Plus and NGINX Open Source contains a vulnerability that could be exploited by remote unauthenticated attackers. When certain configurations are set, including the use of the slice directive with unnamed regex captures or during cache updates, attackers can issue requests that lead to uninitialized memory access within the NGINX worker process. This situation may permit limited memory disclosure or a restart of the worker process, posing potential risks even though there's no exposure of control plane functionality. It's crucial to note that the ngx_http_slice_module is not enabled by default and requires specific configurations to be vulnerable.

Affected Version(s)

NGINX Open Source 1.31.2 < 1.31.3

NGINX Open Source 1.15.8 < 1.30.4

NGINX Plus 37.0.0.1
