A vulnerability in the Intel iwlwifi driver for the Linux kernel allows for improper handling of transmission (TX) during firmware restarts, particularly under high-throughput scenarios. When the iwlwifi firmware encounters a crash, the system fails to halt outgoing traffic, resulting in a feedback loop that consumes CPU resources excessively while failing to transmit data. This issue has been observed to create memory pressure due to slab fragmentation, affecting overall system performance. The necessary safeguards are in place for reception, but similar measures for transmission are needed to mitigate this issue effectively.
