What is CVE-2026-64179?

A memory leak vulnerability has been identified in the WWAN component of the Linux kernel. Specifically, when initializing the IPC (Inter-Process Communication) protocol in the function ipc_protocol_init(), memory allocated is not properly released in case of errors within ipc_imem_init(). This oversight can lead to uncontrolled memory usage, potentially resulting in performance degradation or system crashes. A fix has been implemented that ensures the corresponding release function, ipc_protocol_deinit(), is called on error paths, thereby mitigating the risk of memory leaks.
