What is CVE-2026-64499?

A vulnerability exists in the TI ADS1119 buffer preenable function of the Linux kernel where the device's runtime power management reference can leak. Upon a failed I2C transfer, the function fails to drop the runtime PM reference due to improper error handling. This allows the device to remain active indefinitely, which may lead to resource exhaustion and potential stability issues within the system. Correcting this requires handling the I2C transfer results properly to ensure that references are released on failure.
