What is CVE-2026-64612?

A flaw exists in the PNG image reading function of libcupsfilters and cups-filters, whereby an error recovery handler is not set up. This oversight can cause the CUPS image filter process to terminate unexpectedly when it encounters a malformed PNG file. An unauthorized attacker could leverage this issue by submitting a specially crafted PNG print job, resulting in a denial of service for the ongoing print job.
