What is CVE-2026-64856?

The FileRise web-based file manager, prior to version 3.20.0, contains an authentication bypass vulnerability in the /api/file/snippet.php endpoint. This vulnerability lacks a standard authenticated-session guard before processing requests for short text previews. While ACL checks are performed during the request handling, unauthenticated requests are permitted to access the ACL evaluation phase rather than receiving an immediate access denial. Only specific misconfigurations such as unusual proxy headers or incorrect ACL settings can potentially lead to unauthorized file access. It is crucial for users to upgrade to version 3.20.0 or later to mitigate this risk.
