What is CVE-2026-65695?
The Office-Word-MCP-Server, up to version 1.1.11, has a path traversal vulnerability in its document handling tools. This flaw allows unauthenticated attackers to manipulate the filename argument to read or overwrite .docx files beyond the designated working directory. The vulnerability arises from the failure of the system to perform proper validation of filenames, enabling absolute paths or '../' sequences to bypass essential security checks. As a result, attackers can execute unauthorized file access, potentially leading to data leakage or corruption.
Affected Version(s)
Office-Word-MCP-Server 0 <= 1.1.11
Exploit Proof of Concept (PoC)
PoC code is written by security researchers to demonstrate the vulnerability can be exploited. PoC code is also a key component for weaponization which could lead to ransomware.
