XSS Vulnerability in CVAT Open Source Annotation Tool
CVE-2026-65986
8.5HIGH
What is CVE-2026-65986?
CVAT, an open-source tool for interactive video and image annotation, has a XSS vulnerability in versions from 2.5.0 to 2.66.0. This vulnerability arises from improper handling of the Content-Type of files linked to annotation guides. An attacker can manipulate this content type, subsequently encouraging the victim's browser to execute malicious scripts contained within the files, rather than treating them as standard data. This flaw can lead to significant security risks, as it allows the execution of arbitrary JavaScript in the context of the victim’s session. Users are strongly advised to upgrade to version 2.67.0 or later, where this issue has been addressed.
