What is CVE-2026-66050?

NitroShare Desktop versions up to 0.3.4 are vulnerable to a path traversal flaw within its LAN file transfer server. This vulnerability allows unauthenticated attackers on the same network to exploit the file transfer feature. By sending a specially crafted filename that contains directory traversal sequences, attackers can write arbitrary files to any location accessible to the current user, including sensitive directories like the Windows Startup folder. This exploitation can lead to unauthorized file modification and potential persistent code execution upon the user's next login.

Affected Version(s)

nitroshare-desktop 0 <= 0.3.4

Exploit Proof of Concept (PoC)

PoC code is written by security researchers to demonstrate the vulnerability can be exploited. PoC code is also a key component for weaponization which could lead to ransomware.
