Stack Exhaustion Vulnerability in Apache Thrift Bindings
CVE-2026-66858
8.7HIGH
What is CVE-2026-66858?
A vulnerability exists in Apache Thrift bindings where the protocol skip routine fails to enforce the binding's recursion limit. As a result, messages that deeply nest unknown fields can lead to a stack exhaustion, potentially causing the application to crash. This flaw impacts multiple language libraries, including the Python C++ accelerator, PHP library, and its thrift_protocol extension, as well as libraries for Perl, Lua, Smalltalk, and OCaml. Users are advised to upgrade to version 0.25.0 to mitigate this issue.
