What is CVE-2026-66898?

A path traversal vulnerability in LXD compromises system security by allowing attackers to exploit file system paths during backup import and restore operations. By manipulating instance and storage volume names in the archive metadata, an attacker can craft a malicious backup archive. This can lead to unauthorized file access or overwriting of files outside the permitted restore directory, endangering the integrity of the system.
