What is CVE-2026-67612?

OpenEMR versions up to 8.2.0 are susceptible to a stored cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability found in the patient portal template system. Authenticated administrators can inadvertently introduce malicious HTML and JavaScript payloads through the template save mode, which inadequately filters PHP open tags. This vulnerability not only lacks adequate output encoding during template retrieval but also has missing HttpOnly cookie attributes, which together facilitate the exfiltration of session tokens. As a result, an attacker can exploit this vulnerability to hijack the sessions of any admin, clinician, or patient interacting with a compromised template.

Affected Version(s)

openemr 0 <= 8.2.0

Exploit Proof of Concept (PoC)

PoC code is written by security researchers to demonstrate the vulnerability can be exploited. PoC code is also a key component for weaponization which could lead to ransomware.
