Out-of-Bounds Read Vulnerability in SSSD by Red Hat
CVE-2026-68742
5.5MEDIUM
What is CVE-2026-68742?
An issue exists in the SSSD's NSS responder, specifically within the sss_nss_protocol_parse_addr() function. This flaw arises due to a lack of validation on the addrlen field compared to the packet body size. A local attacker can exploit it by sending a crafted GETHOSTBYADDR request to the NSS responder socket, which can lead to an out-of-bounds read. The resulting effect may crash the process, causing a denial of service within the affected systems.
