Stack Buffer Overflow Vulnerability in gfs2-utils by Red Hat
CVE-2026-71221

7HIGH

What is CVE-2026-71221?

A stack out-of-bounds write vulnerability exists in gfs2-utils, specifically in the savemeta function. The height value derived from on-disk inode metadata is utilized as a loop bound without any bounds checking, resulting in a stack buffer overflow. This flaw can potentially allow for arbitrary code execution when handling specially crafted GFS2 filesystem images.
