What is CVE-2026-72778?

Craft CMS versions from 4.0.0-RC1 before 4.18.2 and from 5.0.0-RC1 before 5.10.6 are susceptible to an authenticated remote code execution vulnerability. This occurs due to improper handling of condition configurations in the control panel's element-search functionality. While the outer request-controlled condition array undergoes cleansing, the subsequent decoding of the JSON string fails to reapply this sanitation, allowing harmful Yii configuration keys to be interpreted during object creation. An attacker with a valid control panel session and CSRF token can potentially execute arbitrary operating system commands with the privileges of the web server user.

Affected Version(s)

cms 5.0.0-RC1 < 5.10.6

cms 4.0.0-RC1 < 4.18.2

cms 5.10.6
