What is CVE-2026-74732?

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel related to AMD display timing generators has been identified, where certain older DCE timing generators lack the implementation of 'is_tg_enabled' within their operations table. This absence leads to a NULL pointer dereference when the system attempts to wait for AV mute frames after turning off the display over HDMI. To mitigate this issue, the kernel now checks for both the existence of the target generator and the required operations before proceeding to wait for frames, ensuring system stability and preventing unintended crashes.
