Access Control Weakness in Splunk Enterprise Affects User Permissions
CVE-2026-76296
4.3MEDIUM
What is CVE-2026-76296?
In Splunk Enterprise versions below 10.4.4, 10.2.8, 10.0.11, and 9.4.16, a user lacking 'admin' or 'power' roles can manipulate sourcetype renaming configurations across applications where they lack permission. This occurs due to Splunk Web's failure to enforce app permissions during sourcetype renaming operations, which can potentially allow unauthorized changes to data configurations. For additional context, refer to the official documentation on renaming source types at search time.
Affected Version(s)
Splunk Enterprise 10.4 < 10.4.4
Splunk Enterprise 10.2 < 10.2.8
