Command Injection Vulnerability in Dogtag PKI Used by FreeIPA
CVE-2026-76561
What is CVE-2026-76561?
A security flaw exists in Dogtag PKI utilized by FreeIPA's certificate authority component, specifically concerning the certificate profile import functionality. This functionality fails to rigorously validate the uploaded profile content beyond just the profile ID. As a result, an authenticated user with CA Administrator permissions can exploit Dogtag's ExternalProcessConstraint mechanism. This exploitation allows the attacker to execute arbitrary commands with environment variables under their control, potentially leading to code execution with the privileges of the pkiuser account. It is crucial for users and administrators to implement recommended security measures to safeguard against potential exploits.
