What is CVE-2026-80719?

A memory management vulnerability has been identified in the Linux kernel, specifically impacting the MGLRU (Memory Group Least Recently Used) system. This issue arises when the page table walker processes memory allocation without proper locking mechanisms, leading to inaccuracies in the number of pages tracked. The interaction between the page table walker and memory control group reparenting can result in premature Out Of Memory (OOM) situations due to the failure to reclaim memory. To mitigate this, the function handling batch size updates must verify the status of the memory control group before finalizing pending operations, ensuring the stability of resource allocation during concurrent processes.
